Applying for an F-1 Visa after COVID

This is a year of unknowns due to the effects of COVID-19. Argo is excited to welcome international students back to the United States with open arms.

We recently hosted 3 webinars for hopeful or current international students with great panestlists on Facebook.

Important things to note this year:

  1. National Interest Exemption - check out this blog we wrote that discusses this.
  2. Different COVID situations in every country, affecting the ability to get an in-person visa interview.
  3. It is important to have enough time between your visa interview date and your school program start date.
  4. Scheduling your visa interview date too close to your program start date alone can cause visa refusals.
  5. Once you schedule your interview, you can request an emergency appointment to move the date up.
  6. International student college applications are on the rise - as of January 22, they were 9% higher than the 2019-2020 year. This is likely due to an anticipation for life after the pandemic and a new President in the White House with more liberal policies on immigration.
  7. Keep in mind that most (if not all) college application statistics from the 2019-2020 year are coming from before the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S.
